Youth Sports Performance Programs for Ages 8–18
Young athletes should not all follow the same workout.
An elementary school athlete learning basic coordination has different needs than a high school athlete preparing for varsity competition. Elite Edge's B.I.G. system gives athletes a clear development path based on their age and experience.
B.I.G. stands for Best In Game and focuses on three areas:
Baseline
Every athlete begins with an assessment. Coaches look at movement, speed, jumping, strength, coordination and training experience.
This creates an appropriate starting point and gives families a way to measure progress.
Integration
Athletes need more than one physical quality.
Elite Edge develops speed, strength, power, conditioning and recovery throughout the training week instead of treating each area as completely separate.
Growth
Youth development takes time. The goal is not to rush young athletes into advanced training. It is to help them build the skills and habits they will need as they grow.
Elite Edge Programs
B.I.G. Foundations: Ages 8–11
Young athletes learn running, jumping, landing, balance, coordination and introductory strength exercises.
B.I.G. Motor: Ages 12–14
Middle school athletes begin more structured speed, strength, power and conditioning work.
B.I.G. Competition: Ages 15–18
High school athletes prepare for more demanding competition through advanced strength, speed, conditioning and performance training.
Older athletes may participate in:
- Velocity: Speed and explosive power
- Force: Strength and weight-room development
- Endure: Conditioning, work capacity and recovery
Every new athlete starts with a free assessment week so the coaching team can recommend the correct program.
Elite Edge Sports Performance serves athletes ages 8–18 in Valencia and throughout Santa Clarita.
